The Teen Science Café (TSC) programme, organised by the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes (Ministry for Education and Employment, Malta), is a STEM popularisation initiative targeting Year 8 students in secondary schools. The aim is to offer young teenage students opportunities to encounter a number of professionals from different STEM-related careers and engage in conversation about relevant STEM themes and career paths in an informal setting. The TSC programme has evolved in the The Tiny Teen Science Café (tTSC), which aims to engage young children (in primary schooling) and their parents to become more familiar and aware of opportunities related to STEM. Furthermore, the tTSC provides an excellent chance to challenge parents’ gender stereotypes regarding STEM careers. Students in Years 4 and 5 will have the opportunity to understand and appreciate Science-related jobs and scientific phenomena through informal encounters based on playful learning activities with the different STEM professionals.
