The Department of Curriculum Management is organizing the first national edition of the Hour of Code scheduled between Monday 7th and Friday 11th December 2015.
The Hour of Code initiative entails the organization of a 30 minute activity that takes place in class; such an activity does not require the use of a computer. This event introduces students of all ages to coding in a fun and easy manner. Coding provides an excellent way to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills through interactive learning activities.
- Early Years and Primary Education:
A number of Hour of Code activities attached to this circular which do not require a computer and are especially aimed for KG1, KG2 and Years 1 through 6. Teachers may select any of these activities to carry out with their students.
- Middle and Secondary Schools:
The Hour of Code initiative in Middle and Secondary schools will be held during the students’ ICT lesson in the Computer Lab through the official Hour of Code activities at https://code.org/learn.
- Photo Competition:
Participants are invited to take a photo of their activity and post it on the Hour of Code – Malta facebook page specifically created for this event at http://facebook.com/HourMalta for a chance to win a fantastic resource for your class. Data Protection regulations are applicable as usual. The winner will be randomly selected on Friday 11th December and announced on the page itself.
